Crafting the perfect prompt:
1. start short with simple details

4. refine based on initial results

Pro Tips
In Midjourney, you can use the "Edit" feature, which allows you to:
1. resize the image
2. move content placement and primary focus in the canvas
3. add more background
4. zoom in or out
5. erase features you wish to have re-generated
Words matter
Simple terms are better than jargon, flamboyant or extreme adjectives. Beware of words that can have multiple meanings, and avoid slang. Keeping environments singular. Describe action and figure motions in detail. Facial expressions should describe emotion.
Punctuation and spelling matters
Just as when you write a sentence, you add commas to separate thoughts, you need to do the same with your prompts. Read your prompt aloud to ensure that your meaning can be interpreted correctly.
For example, choose:
"a girl in a bathing suit walking along a beach on a misty gray day, in a Helmut Newton style photograph"
instead of:
"Helmut Newton photography, bikini clad girl, misty beach"
The latter prompt actually returned a warning that the prompt could not be generated, since the location, action, and photo style conflicted, and no action could be determined. It is as if AI wondered, "what is misty beach? what is bikini clad?"
Aspect ratio matters
This can be seen in the top image in this post, which is a square. This is the default aspect ratio in Midjourney. It is easy to get carried away in creating the imagery you desire, and only later realize the images (or series) are all the wrong aspect ratio. Defining the correct aspect ratio will save time and headache. Popular aspect ratios mirror social media platform standards, so choose wisely from the start.
